Greek eGrocery Q1’21

While the COVID-19 crisis continues to plague online grocery shopping, the trend of consumers opting for online shopping for food continues. Greek Online Grocery grew with an impressive 282% sales growth rate during the first quarter of 2021 vs. 2020, according to aggregated data collected on Convert Group’s eRetail Audit platform along with calculations from our Market Analysis team.

Key Insights Overview:

  • During Q1’21 Online Grocery Sales continued to increase significantly with a +282% Y-o-Y growth.
  • The Category “Bottled Beverages, Soft Drinks, Water & Drink Mixes” skyrocketed with a +402% sales growth rate, followed by the categories “Bakery” & “Fresh Food” with rates of +366% and +344%, respectively.
  • The average conversion rate upgraded to 3,8% because of the increasing familiarity of consumers with the online shopping experience, which resulted in a general uplift in the online traffic.
  • Direct traffic continues to build up its share of the overall sales value, reaching a 36% rate against the other Marketing Channels, revealing the consumers’ preference to visit, directly, the retailer’s website of their choice when planning to shop.
